Matt Corby Announces New Album ‘Tragic Magic’, Shares Soulful New Single ‘Burn It Down’

Beloved Australian artist Matt Corby has announced his highly anticipated new album Tragic Magic, set for release on Friday, March 6, 2026. The 13-track record marks a new chapter for the Northern Rivers-based musician, expanding on the lush, soulful soundscapes that have defined his career. Co-produced with Chris Collins (Royel Otis, Middle Kids, Old Mervs), the album will feature the previously released single Long and Short alongside vibrant new offering, Burn It Down.

Co-written with Meg Mac and Chris Collins, Burn It Down is a groove-heavy, vintage-tinged cut that channels the spirit of Motown through Corby’s modern lens. The result is a soulful, feel-good anthem that explores the delicate balance of maintaining love, health, and happiness amid life’s challenges. Featuring Meg Mac and Nat Dunn on backing vocals, Burn It Down sees Corby performing drums, bass, piano, percussion, mellotron and vocals — layered with a stirring string arrangement by Corby, Collins and Stephen Mowat.

Reflecting on Tragic Magic, Corby describes the album as a deeply personal body of work inspired by family, fatherhood and self-discovery.

“It’s awesome to finally be telling everyone about this album, ‘Tragic Magic’. We’ve been working on it for about 18 months and I’m really proud of it. It’s feels very reflective of where my life is at right now; how my family, my kids are the most important thing and watching them grow up has completely rewired my brain and outlook on life.”

Accompanied by a nostalgic Super8 visualiser filmed by Corby himself, Burn It Down is out now — offering fans a soulful glimpse into what’s shaping up to be one of 2026’s most anticipated Australian albums.
