Matt Groening To Make Australian Debut At Sydney’s GRAPHIC
‘The Simpsons’ creator Matt Groening is making his Australian debut later this year, and teaming up with cartoonist Lynda Barry to headline GRAPHIC at the Sydney Opera House.
GRAPHIC is a celebration of the mavericks who have shaped graphic storytelling. In the past, the festival has been host to the minds behind Batman, Wolverine, Jay & Silent Bob, ‘The Walking Dead’, plus many more!
This year’s GRAPHIC will see Groening giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at his classic show. “I’m going to share stories of the making of ‘The Simpsons’ and show embarrassing home movies and rarely seen animation, including oddball outtakes and uncensored Itchy & Scratchy cartoons,”says Groening.
The creator will follow his GRAPHIC talk ‘Secrets of The Simpsons, and a Couple of Milhouse Fun Facts’ with a session with his friend and fellow cartoonist Lynda Barry, titled ‘Love, Hate & Comics: The Friendship That Would Not Die’.
Also at this year’s festival will be George Lucas’ THX 1338 live re-scoring with Asian Dub Foundation, author Neil Gaiman virtually presenting the Australian debut of films ‘Dream Dangerously’ and ‘Likely Stories’, Australian cartoonist Michael Leunig, plus more!
