Max Quinn Calls Out The Wolf Pack In “The Boys”
Pop rock darling Max Quinn, formally Max Quinn’s Onomatopenis, released his first solo single Carpool Tunnel Syndrome earlier this year. Now he’s at it again, dropping his latest single The Boys, and we can’t get enough!
The triple j Unearthed artist recorded the track in Melbourne and called on his Brisbane bestie Alex L’Estrange for a mix. The Boys is a thought-provoking mix of satirical lyrics and a rustic twang, calling out the wolf whistlers and cat callers who’ve been thrown in the ‘ratbag’ basket.
The single pays homage to Quinn’s inability to fit into the “manly”’ expectations put on boys and men in this day and age, drawing inspiration from gross stories shared between him and a bunch of lads in a sauna in regional Australia.
Quinn explains, “This song’s essentially about realising that [being a super manly man] isn’t enough, and we need to be railing against the generational dick-swinging that has so often been excused as ratbag boy behaviour.”
Quinn is launching the single on Friday, 14th of October at Magic Johnson in Melbourne, with special guests Alex Lahey and Ruby Markwell. Tickets will be on a sale at the door. No microphones and a limited capacity at the venue means you’ll want to get in early for a decent spot.
