moonsea Reveals Dreamy Indie Pop Single ‘Power Cut’

Melbourne‑based indie pop artist moonsea has unveiled her enchanting new single Power Cut, a tender track that captures the magic of love hidden in life’s quiet moments.

Originally from Manchester and raised in Auckland, moonsea moved to Melbourne in 2013, where she began experimenting with production and released two EPs under her previous project, Sympholily. Now, as moonsea, she has refined her sound into an atmospheric blend of classical, electronic, and nostalgic pop rock.

Power Cut feels like a slow waltz in candlelight, layered synths flutter like distant birds over delicate piano and guitar, with moonsea’s ethereal vocals at the centre. The song evokes the quiet intimacy of a power outage, where time seems to pause and emotions feel heightened.

“As a child I always felt there was something a bit exciting about a power cut… in those hours of darkness, huddled on the living room floor with our half-burned candles, it felt like time had stopped and we’d entered an alternate reality. This was a universe for telling secrets and holding hands, and I had the distinct feeling that anything might happen. I imagined what it might be like to be in such a situation with someone you were secretly in love with… The rest of the song blossomed from there.” – moonsea.

The accompanying music video mirrors the track’s warm, intimate energy, combining home‑style handycam footage from the studio with close, personal shots that feel like a private exchange with the viewer.

With Power Cut, moonsea continues to establish herself as one of Melbourne’s most compelling indie pop voices, crafting music that’s emotionally rich, sonically immersive, and deeply personal.
