Nathan Ball Expresses Spacious Energy & Honesty On ‘Call It Love’

Nathan Bell

Quickly crooning his way to fragile hearts all around the world, celebrated UK singer-songwriter, Nathan Ball, has unveiled his daring, slow-motion new single, Call It Love. It arrives smack-bang in the middle of his Australian tour supporting Ziggy Alberts.

Following on from last year’s All Or Nothing, Nathan Ball still manages to find honesty within his refreshing take on indie-folk and singer-songwriting—a revelation that’s somewhat missing from other artists in his genre. Rather than just letting his incredible voice do all the work, Ball, and his fantastic band, tells a marvelling story through the building instrumentation.

Written on the road amongst a run of summer festivals, Ball was inspired by all the music he was intaking to go back to the studio and craft Call It Love. He also credits inspiration to his biggest influence, his natural surroundings.

“It’s where I write best; by the sea, in the mountains, in the woods. I love being totally immersed in nature so naturally those themes find their way into the music. I love being in the ocean – just being in it, and feeling totally insignificant. It’s a reminder of the order of things.,” recalls Ball.

The beauty of Call It Love is the spaces in between the music. Ball’s ability to move amongst the noise and craft a spacious yet concise indie-folk piece is incredibly moving. Sifting through atmospheric guitars and his stirring vocal ability, Ball surrounds himself in a subtly sophisticated musical backdrop for his lyrics to excel.

Nathan Ball is still in the middle of an absolutely massive sold-out national tour with Ziggy Alberts. Scope the rest of the dates below and stream Call It Love.
