Nick Cunningham Captures Intimate Storytelling in New Single ‘With You’

Brisbane-based indie-folk artist Nick Cunningham has unveiled his heartfelt new single, With You, an evocative track that reflects his signature ability to blend deeply personal storytelling with timeless musicality. Known for crafting vivid portraits through his music, Cunningham’s latest release adds another chapter to his evolving artistry.

Inspired by artists like The Lumineers and Ziggy Alberts, With You carries the warmth and nostalgia of a coastal road trip. Written in a moment of reflection in an Adelaide hotel room, the song’s genesis is as intimate as its sound. It draws on a real-life love story—Cunningham’s meeting with his now-partner during a shared performance in Adelaide, which later inspired a seaside getaway that shaped the lyrics.

“I wrote the finger-picked guitar riff to this song in a hotel room in Adelaide the morning after meeting my now partner. We met while we were performing at an event in Adelaide of all places, and happened to live two suburbs apart in Brisbane. We had this trip away to the coast after a few dates and the lyrics really came from that.”  – Nick Cunningham.

The single’s delicate finger-picked guitar and stripped-back production, recorded at Studio Byron, create a raw and immersive listening experience. For Cunningham, the minimalist approach allowed him to revisit the simplicity and purity of his songwriting roots, resulting in a track that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable.

Following the success of his EP No Flowers, No Rain, With You further solidifies Nick as a standout voice in Australia’s indie-folk scene.
