Nocturnal Tapes Wake Up To Smokey Nostalgia
Yamba-based indie-dance up-and-comers Nocturnal Tapes are back with an exciting, atmospherical gem of a new single, Wake Up—taken from the forthcoming EP, ‘Visions IV’, due out August 25.
Wake Up, the band’s fourth single since inception in 2016, takes you on a great, smokey journey through nostalgic dance floor memories.
Opening with that sweet, high filtered kick and a high attack of soft keys, this tune isn’t out of place at the sweaty rave tent at your favourite festival. With smooth, harmonious house style vocals, huge synth bass and slight arpeggiated synth tones, you’ll be bouncing with joy on dance floors everywhere this spring.
Sounding like the early days of PNAU or even Grafton Primary, the washy, dreamy vocals of Harry Suttor instantly take you to a better place.
Describing the story behind Wake Up, Suttor says:
“Without getting too dark, the song is about how everything in your life is leading up to the ultimate moment of death; time is a way we all die. So, why are so many of us wasting our lives locked to screens and living in routine?”
With three singles released and a new EP due out this month, Nocturnal Tapes have a very bright future ahead. With a unique sound base and not afraid to try something new, we’re very excited to see what this brand new EP has to offer.
