Off Judy Unveil Anthem ‘Scared Of The Dog’ With New Music Video

Bundjalung/Byron Bay-based indie-punk outfit Off Judy have just dropped their latest single, ‘Scared Of The Dog’. Produced and mixed by Alain Decarne (Les Krills, Tropical Zombie), the track captures carefree energy through sun-soaked guitar riffs, punchy basslines, and raucous drums. Off Judy channels the influence of indie-punk heavyweights like Skegss, Surf Trash, and Hockey Dad in crafting a singalong anthem that balances joyful sound with deeper themes.

Lead vocalist Finn Mcildowie explains the song’s message, revealing that the ‘dog’ represents the ‘black dog’ of depression.

“The ‘dog’ in ‘Scared Of The Dog’ is the black dog. The track’s theme is to continue enjoying life even though the black dog is always looming. Keeping it at bay but never giving in to it. Acknowledging it’s there but keeping it just out of reach.” – Finn Mcildowie.

Alongside the release, Off Judy have unveiled a home-made music video featuring footage from their recent UK/Europe tour. Using a trusty Sony handycam, the band captured behind-the-scenes moments and sprinkled clips of dogs to symbolise the ‘black dog’ presence.

Having toured the UK, Europe, and New Zealand, Off Judy have gained a reputation for their infectious energy, having supported acts like Wolfmother and The Smith Street Band. ‘Scared Of The Dog’ is another powerful addition to their growing catalogue.
