Oh Pep! Melt Hearts With New Single “Doctor Doctor”
Melbourne lady duo Oh Pep! cater to the sweet tooth with the first taste of their full length album, single Doctor Doctor. They’ve just signed to Dualtone Music Group (The Lumineers, Shakey Graves) and announced a massive run of shows across Europe, America, and good old Oz!
With Olivia Hally on guitar and vocals and Pepita Emmerichs on fiddle, violin, and mandolin, the pair creates indie tunes with folk textures. The mix of genres and energetic instrumentation saw Oh Pep! impress at New York’s CMJ, Seattle’s KEXP, Washtington’s NPR Tiny Desk and SXSW in the last few months.
Their latest release Doctor Doctor is an indie pop tune with its broken heart in the right place. It tells a tale as old as time; girl meets boy, boy is irresistible, girl overthinks situation, boy is not interested, girl is exhausted. As Olivia sings, “I know what I want and it’s not what I need”.
There seems to be a strength that comes from a failed flirtation. Canadian producer Daniel Ledwell showcases the cheeky and accepting attitude of Oh Pep!’s folk tone by smoothly layering the track’s relatable sentimentality.
The album ‘Stadium Cake’ is due for release in July 2016 and is now available for pre-order in limited edition coloured vinyl and on iTunes. Oh Pep! start their Australia tour this week so best be quick and see below for dates and ticketing details!
