Pacific Avenue Return With Powerful New Single ‘Working Class Hero’
Australian indie rock favourites Pacific Avenue have made their highly anticipated return with the release of their new single and video, ‘Working Class Hero’. The track is a heartfelt tribute to the band’s roots in the coastal towns of Kiama and Gerringong, shining a light on the resilience, loyalty, and quiet strength of regional communities across Australia.
Blending soaring guitar lines, anthemic choruses, and deeply personal storytelling, ‘Working Class Hero’ explores the nostalgia of small-town life while reflecting on the bittersweet journey of leaving home in pursuit of music.

“’Working Class Hero’ serves as a tribute to our hometowns of Kiama and Gerringong, and the hardworking people who keep them alive. Growing up in small regional towns, we were shaped by a tight community where loyalty and perseverance ran deep.
As we pursued music, moving away from home brought a sense of guilt—leaving behind family and friends. The song’s verses reflect the nostalgia of growing up with a close friend and the joys of small-town life, while the chorus explores the regret and longing of wondering if we’d made the right choice to leave. While we love being on the road and touring, part of us misses the integrity of actively contributing to a community.
For the music video we wanted to convey the heroism that often goes unnoticed, showcasing a town built on grit, loyalty, and quiet perseverance, which are values that helped build our identity before music became a career, and hope this leaves viewers with a renewed appreciation for their own communities.” — Pacific Avenue.
The ‘Working Class Hero’ music video mirrors this sentiment, celebrating the unnoticed heroism of everyday people and the grit that defines regional Australia. The release marks the beginning of a new era for Pacific Avenue following the massive success of their debut album Flowers, which topped the ARIA Australian Album Chart and earned two ARIA nominations.
Pacific Avenue are currently midway through their East Coast tour, with tickets available via pacificavenue.com.au.
