Parkway Drive’s “Bottom Feeder” Video Too Much For Germany?

Parkway Drive

Byron Bay’s metalcore kings Parkway Drive have been insanely busy over the last year following the release of their fifth studio (and Gold certified) album ‘Ire’. They’ve just released their latest music video from the album in the form of a live montage of Bottom Feeder, giving us a glimpse into their recent European adventures playing some of the biggest summer festivals, frolicking in inflatable pools, and of course all the fire we could ever want!

German fans seem to be rather pissed that the new video isn’t available to them and are suffering from some serious FOMO. Apparently Germany’s performing rights organisation GEMA has blocked the video with the following message.

It seems that the GEMA are rather notorious with these sorts of bans, and German fans aren’t happy. GEMA have tried to hold Youtube liable for hosting content without the copyright holder’s permission resulting in music videos from major artists and labels being blocked following the expiration of a licensing agreement between the two.

In 2013 it was reported a staggering 61.5 per cent of the top 1000 most viewed videos were banned in Germany…think about that for a second. While we can only hope that ban includes all the mindless poppy bollocks, we have to feel for our German friends who aren’t getting their much needed Parkway Drive goodness. Luckily their European neighbours are rather accommodating and have some inventive suggestions.
