Passenger Announces Full Band For Newly Announced Australian Tour
British crooning, finger-picking aficionado Passenger has announced an Australian headline tour early next year in support of his upcoming album ‘Young as the Morning, Old as the Sea’. For the first time ever Passenger, a.k.a Mike Rosenberg, who has a reputation for hypnotising audiences with little more than his unique voice and thoughtful finger-picking, will tour with a full 4-piece band.
AAA predicts Rosenberg will be in red-hot form for the 7-date tour as he’s been travelling around Europe and the UK busking in preparation (isn’t that one of the most charming things you’ve have ever heard?). It totally makes sense though, his evocative musical story-telling being honed in more intimate scenarios and translating that to a really personal experience even in stadiums of thousands.
If these announcements have really set your pulse racing, then the good news keeps coming! Passenger has already released a clip for the lead single from ‘Young as the Morning, Old as the Sea’, Somebody’s Love. The clip features soft, beautiful cinematography of Rosenberg rowing across a lake as his boat is engulfed by flames, while the track itself has the simple chord structure and yearning regret of a Whitney Houston ballad. Really, quintessential Passenger.
While the clip may not quite breach the billion YouTube views of 2012 megahit Let Her Go, it certainly shows how far the singer has come since his 2007 debut album ‘Wicked Man’s Rest.’ This is Passenger’s third album since his multi-platinum selling ‘All the Little Lights’, containing the aforementioned member of the “billion club”. ‘Young as the Morning, Old as the Sea’ is influenced by trips to New Zealand and Iceland, resulting in songs about relationships and the passage of time.
Melbourne folksters The Paper Kites will be supporting Passenger on his emotional Aussie roller-coaster.
