PennyRoyale: Artist, Advocate, Alchemist of Her Own Sound
Geelong-based singer, songwriter, and now self-producing artist PennyRoyale has just released Sweet Sleep—a cinematic, dream-pop track that signals the beginning of an entirely new era. It’s the first glimpse into her upcoming concept album Darkroom Alchemy, set for release on September 8.
But this isn’t just a new chapter—it’s a transformation.
Sweet Sleep shimmers with emotion—an ethereal meditation on survival, surrender, and the quiet strength it takes to rest and rise. It also marks PennyRoyale’s evolution from singer-songwriter to sonic architect, producing the track entirely herself.
“PennyRoyale is what happens when a woman steps fully into authorship,” she says. “Artist, producer, philosopher, advocate—it’s not just about making music. It’s about pushing yourself beyond every line drawn for you.”
PennyRoyale’s work extends far beyond the studio. With years of experience working in the Australian music industry, she has been a vocal contributor to national conversations around policy, industry reform, and building a fairer, more sustainable landscape for artists—especially women.
Her advocacy also extends into the growing global movement of Creative Health—championing the arts as a vital, evidence-based tool for mental wellbeing, social connection, and community care. Through her work in social prescribing and creative health initiatives, PennyRoyale is part of the shift that recognises music and the arts not just as entertainment, but as essential to human wellbeing.
“This project has pushed me further than anything I’ve ever done,” she reflects on Darkroom Alchemy. “Because at the end of the day, art sustains us. It transforms us. Music doesn’t date. Art doesn’t age. It’s forever timeless.”

Darkroom Alchemy promises to be just that—a timeless, transformative body of work born from shadow, shaped by light, and driven by an unwavering belief in the power of art to heal, disrupt, and connect.
As both an artist and advocate, PennyRoyale’s message is clear: the time is now. For women in music. For truth in art. For creativity as care. And for a future where artists can lead with vision, authenticity, and the courage to evolve.
“We’re still here. So what now? The answer is simple: we keep creating. We keep changing the game.”
With Sweet Sleep, PennyRoyale begins that next chapter—and with Darkroom Alchemy, she invites us all to rise with her.
