Perry Farrell Denies Allegations in $10 Million Jane’s Addiction Lawsuit from Dave Navarro

Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell has officially denied allegations of assault made by longtime bandmate Dave Navarro, responding to the explosive $10 million lawsuit that has fractured the legendary alternative rock band.

According to filings obtained by People and reported by Kill Your Stereo and Tone Deaf, Farrell has denied “each and every allegation” outlined in Navarro’s complaint, asserting that his guitarist “has not been damaged in any way or in any amount whatsoever.” Farrell’s legal team has filed 35 affirmative defenses, including a claim that Navarro possesses “unclean hands” and that the lawsuit fails to provide sufficient facts to constitute a cause of action.

The legal battle stems from a shocking onstage altercation during Jane’s Addiction’s 2024 reunion tour, when Farrell physically attacked Navarro mid-performance in Boston on September 13. The incident was captured on video and widely circulated on social media, leading to the abrupt cancellation of the remaining U.S. dates.

Navarro, along with bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins, subsequently filed a lawsuit against Farrell for assault, battery, negligence, breach of contract, and emotional distress. Hours later, Farrell countersued, claiming he was the victim of bullying, and accused his bandmates of defaming him by attributing the cancelled tour to his alleged “mental health difficulties.”

Navarro’s attorney, Christopher Frost, has pushed back against Farrell’s filing, stating the lawsuit “speaks for itself” and that the frontman has not taken any legal steps to halt litigation. Meanwhile, Farrell’s lawyer, Miles Cooley, characterised the original lawsuit as “yet another clear example of the group uniting to isolate and bully frontman Perry Farrell.”

The dispute marks a dramatic downfall for Jane’s Addiction’s much-hyped 2024 reunion, which initially saw rave reviews across Europe and was billed as the band’s most ambitious comeback since 2010.

Whether the case proceeds to trial remains to be seen, but for fans of Jane’s Addiction, the band’s future together looks increasingly uncertain.
