Phantogram Are Getting Hypnotic With New Single And Album

phantogram

New Yorkian electronic artist Phantogram have announced their latest single You Don’t Get Me High Anymore, the first taste of their aptly named forthcoming album ‘THREE’.

The duo, made up of Joshua Carter and Sarah Barthel, combine hip hop beats with soaring vocals to create an electronica sound similar to that of Canadian group Purity Ring.

You Don’t Get Me High Anymore is captivating, with heavy drumming and droning, bass-heavy synthesisers throughout, before building to the crescendo in the chorus led brilliantly by Barthel’s vocals.

Barthel shows off her vocal ability going from singing lyrics that are fast-paced with almost a rap-like delivery through the verses, then reaching high notes in the build up to the chorus. The new song sees the duo employ more dynamics and a dancier vibe compared to previous singles.

The new album ‘THREE’ is due out Friday, 16th of September. In the meantime, you can check out You Don’t Get Me High Anymore below!
