Polly Dives Deep into Comparison Culture on Shimmering New Single ‘Better’ Ahead of Forthcoming EP ‘Daddy Issues’

Emerging Melbourne alt-pop artist Polly returns with her fourth release, Better a hypnotic, club-infused single that explores the raw emotions of comparison, insecurity, and self-reflection. The track serves as a bold preview of her upcoming EP Daddy Issues, due July 18.

Blending dreamy synths, warped autotune, and glossy production, Better sounds like it belongs on the dancefloor of a neon-lit afterparty. But beneath the glittering surface lies a powerful narrative: the struggle to measure up in a world obsessed with curated perfection. Polly’s clear, commanding vocals cut through the mix, offering a relatable reflection on the quiet pressure to be “better” — in life, in love, and in our own eyes.

“I’ve always compared my life to others. I find it really hard to not feel behind or not good enough, especially when it comes to the relationships in my life. I think we all compare without even realising it? Something deeply ingrained within us. I guess this song came from a place of comparison – wanting my life and everything in it to be just like the movies and magazines.”Polly.

Despite being early in her career, Polly is already working with some of the industry’s most respected names, including Liam Quinn (Ruel, Peach PRC), Brent Kolatalo (Drake, Eminem), and mastering legend Chris Gehringer (Dua Lipa, Tove Lo).

Better is a standout moment for Polly, equal parts vulnerable and confident, catchy and cathartic. It sets the tone for Daddy Issues, a deeply personal body of work that promises emotional depth, powerful vocals, and pop polish.
