PREMIERE: Dave Is A Spy “Sleeping Car”
You usually don’t hear about secret agents unless they’ve done something amazing like saving The Queen or terrible like breaking a priceless artefact while chasing a villain who threatens the world’s security. Luckily for Brisbane trio Dave Is A Spy they’re turning heads for all the right reasons with their latest single Sleeping Car.
Also known as their ASIS codename ‘DIAS’, the 3-piece have played over 50 shows since forming in 2013 including ‘Rockin’ For The Homeless’ with Mental As Anything and supporting At The Dakota. The band’s 2015 EP ‘Sleeping In Public With Strangers’ saw them gain praise from triple j, 4ZZZ, and a plenty of Brisbanites.
Sleeping Car is a classic bubbly Brisbane indie-pop track, the kind of feel-good music you should always start your day grooving along to. Its simple upbeat rhythms, ska-inspired chorus, warm melody, and overdriven guitar-work sees the song the falling into the sonic territory somewhere between Ben Folds and vintage Cloud Control. It’s a winner through and through!
“Sleeping Car is about the feeling of meeting someone that you know you just click with, having uncertainty and nerves about it but at the same time kind of understanding that everything will be alright,” said frontman Fin Taylor.
“It’s a really fun song to play live, and we’re all really excited to have finally been able to record and release it!” said bassist Sarah Bellamy.
To celebrate the release of Sleeping Car DIAS are launching the single at Brisbane’s Black Bear Lodge on Thursday 5th of May, supported by Aiden Bradley and Regular Band.
