PREMIERE: Faux Bandit Appear Battered & Bruised On The Brutal ‘Lyrebird Lungs’
On Lyrebird Lungs, Faux Bandit have broken their identity crisis. They’ve embraced the two-piece noise mechanic more than ever—breaking barriers and kicking down walls in the process. Lyrebird Lungs is Faux Bandit’s loudest, opus piece and AAA Backstage are pleased to offer the exclusive premiere.
There’s a visceral identity that made me fall in love with DZ Deathrays and Death From Above 1979. The ability to create so much sound with only two people is an extraordinary thing—making use of so little and turning it into something it’s not. Lyrebird Lungs is just that. Faux Bandit’s cataclysmic approach to songwriting has never appeared more foreboding.
Through their rock witchcraft, they incite a claustrophobic sense of dispair—death-defying guitar explosiveness and the incredible song structure is easily the band’s best. Fuzzed out and recalling their contemporaries’ view of dance-punk, Faux Bandit, instead veers left when everyone turns right.
The video, much like the song, is just as battered, bloody and bruised. To say the least, it’s brutal. Filled with fights, arm wrestling and rock ‘n’ roll, it’s a video that makes no exceptions.
