Premiere: Fist Drop Electrifying Live Album ‘Live Uncut Broke & Exhausted’

Newcastle’s indie punk heroes, Fist, are set to unleash their debut album Live Uncut Broke & Exhausted, and we’re stoked to be giving you an exclusive first listen to the new album ahead of its official release tomorrow. The album, a thrilling live performance recorded at Sydney’s iconic Moshpit Bar, is packed with 23 high-octane tracks that capture the raw, unfiltered energy of the band’s punk rock essence.

Live Uncut Broke & Exhausted showcases Fist’s trademark fast-paced riffs, wild performances, and relentless energy, making it a must-listen for punk fans everywhere. To celebrate the release, Fist has announced a series of local tour dates, kicking off on October 5th at The Hamilton Station Hotel in Newcastle.

Known for their explosive live shows, Fist has already left their mark on the scene, with appearances at Hellnation III, Fastlane Festival, and Sydney Streets. Their relentless tour earlier this year, dubbed ‘Naht A Tour,’ saw the band traverse three states, performing 25 shows and overcoming numerous hardships.

To get to know the album a little further, the band have shared with us a track by track walkthrough of the album below.

MORE DATES TBA

01 – The Theme From Seinfeld

As a bass player, the worst thing you can hear is “slappa da bass” from The Might Boosh. It’s a great show, don’t get me wrong, but I didn’t learn to slap for years out of sheer stubbornness. Arguably, I still haven’t! So obviously it took ages for me to give in when Josh begged me over and over to learn the Seinfeld theme. Glad I did, no better way to set to tone during soundcheck. – Rohan

02 – Dickhead

Dickhead is a real “do whatever you want” song. You don’t need stimulation from outside to have a real connection. My philosophy is that being happy is the main goal, it’s not a bad thing to waste a big of time now and again. Slow down, you know? I don’t pretend to know all the answers, so I’ll just have a sick time. – Josh

03 – Encore

What’s funnier than calling an encore after the first song? – Rohan

04 – Tactical Error

A narcissist doesn’t think they’re a narcissist, so I think I’m safe. Tac Error is a bit of a riff on those manipulative traits we pick up on in ourselves. They can lead to a lot of hurt and heartbreak, so this track to me is all about reminding yourself not to repeat mistakes. Learn from your stuff ups and keep trying to be a better person than yesterday. – Josh

05 – Heavy But Unprofessional

Whenever you play live, things are bound to go wrong. In a band like ours where we like to muck around, kick and shove each other… basically sabotage the show now that I think about it. The point is that things happen and part of the game is to roll with it and put on the best show you can – the audience deserves the best. Always. – Rohan

06 – Beer

We have a history with this song that goes back way further than FIST. I think it’s one of the first songs we jammed together when I hit the boys up for a Uni project. It sort of started as one of us playing it and then the others realising that we all knew how to play it without ever talking about our mutual love of Reel Big Fish. Also BASEketball slapped. – Rohan

07 – Help

My mum was a singer for years and this was one of here favourites. The John Farnham version, of course. She was fantastic, and I’ve always wanted to make her proud with my music. Anyway, I caught that Himesh Patel movie Yesterday a while ago and loved the arrangement from that movie. Surprisingly punk version of a Beatles classic; super Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. Mum helped me blend the two versions of her favourite song, I pitched it to the band, and it just clicked. – Rohan

08 – GG Allen

I’m not sure how well this entirely visual gag translates to the recording, but needless to say I tried to fill these pants UP! – Rohan

09 – Bets With God

I think there’s a point in everyone’s life where they wake up and realise they’re not invincible. That young “nothing can go wrong” mindset just flips like a switch one day. We’ve all had it – Rohan has a couple of injuries that turned him into an old man at 23, Luke I’m pretty sure is dying of some sort of chemical poisoning. I had a heart attack at 30 from a heart condition I knew nothing about. That was well after writing the song, but you know what I mean. That illusion wears off quick. – Josh

10 – Clap

It doesn’t matter if people actually clap or not, just asking is stupid enough. – Rohan

11 – Mayfield Suck Wagon

We’re broke as hell. Live Uncut Broke & Exhausted. We spent the weekend we recording playing across Newy, The Central Coast and Sydney. Three dudes sleeping in the van with all the gear. Rockstar shit. – Rohan

12 – Junkies

Josh and I met through a friend of a friend named Lisa Papasavvas. Lisa used to run a youth space and open mic out in Anna Bay. I learned so much from her and the experience of playing and improvising with other musicians like Josh. Lisa used to be in a band called Spew Your Guts Up and would play some of their old tracks. We were honoured to cover a song that is just soaked with so much nostalgia for us. Lisa, we love you. – Rohan

13 – Gaia

When you put someone on a pedestal, you dig yourself into a hole. It’s so easy, especially in the early stages of a relationship, to idealise somebody. Toxic traits get swept under the rug and you end up with this goddess in your mind. The problem is that nobody can live up to that standard, and some people will take that worship and turn it on you. – Josh

14 – Shout Outs

Back when we first met The Limited and fell in love, I asked them who out of anyone they wanted to play with. Nunchukka Superfly. Aussie punk legends. The Moshpit was an amazing venue, they actually shouted us beers at our gig at the Link & Pin the night before. We only got to put the gig on thanks to it happening to slot in with ARIA’s Great Southern Nights, which was awesome. Zac at ZENN Stream crushed it with the audio capture and video setup. We took the stems to Mitch Rose at The DIY Recording Studio who mixed and mastered everything. Our boy Reece Morgan Swalwell from the band DVNTS knocked it out of the park on the video edits. These things don’t just happen in a vacuum, there’s always a whole team around you. – Rohan

15 – Generation Undone

This is one of the few tracks that’s not ENTIRELY self-centred. The world isn’t so black and white, there’s always somebody lying to you. It gets to a point where you have to choose between drowning in nuance or ignorance. Of course we’re angry about corruption, a stacked deck. Everybody should have integrity in what they do. – Josh

16 – Comeback Girl

The break up song: a classic. You need to be kind to yourself sometimes and cut yourself some slack. We all make mistakes, but it’s how we respond that defines us. Every so often you need to write a love letter to yourself to get yourself out of that hole of self-loathing and doubt. You go through the day being kind to others, why not be kind to yourself? – Josh

17 – Ur Not My Sponsor

As you can probably tell, we we’re super influenced by The Tom, Mark and Travis Show. We’re not Blink, obviously, but I think there’s some special magic that happens live that you can’t recreate in the studio. Take the Reel Big Fish live album, or NOFX, or the Metallica stuff. Hell, even the first Primus album caught all that and they’re basically robot wizards on their instruments. Such a fun experience and I hope it comes across. – Rohan

18 – No Matter The Kind

This one is straight out of my journal. Hurt, heartbreak, pain to be let out. No Matter The Kind was never intended to be a song, just catharsis. But I showed it to the boys and they said pain sells, so here we are. Everything in this song is very literal. We’ve all been through it and I know the boys connect with it. It’s honest, and I’ll leave it at that. – Josh

19 – The Pussy Song

What a gross way to introduce a gross song. I love it. – Rohan

20 – Muff Diving

I’m not sure how to say this without sounding like I’m 13. I mean, that’s how old I was when I wrote Muff Diving. I was in a band called Equanimity, or maybe Rising Tides at the time and my friend basically bet me to write a song called Muff Diving. I like to see it as a call to arms for more men and women to do their part.

21 – Little Beer Gremlin With A Knife

My legal advice has said that I shouldn’t comment on this track. I like beer. – Rohan

22 – Ka Boom

Nobody knows what they’re doing. Nobody has things figured out. We’re all just pretending to be adults. Finding that out can be painful and scary, but it’s important to remove that societal programming. You’ve got to kill part of yourself to be your truest self. Ego death, I guess. – Josh

23 – Clap (Reprise)

Please clap. – Rohan
