Premiere: Haast Hunter Reveal Explosive New Single and Video ‘Spite’

New Zealand heavy rock force Haast Hunter are gearing up for the release of their hard-hitting new single Spite dropping tomorrow. But before it officially lands, AAA Backstage is giving fans the exclusive first listen, premiering both the track and its gripping music video.

A ferocious exploration of Tall Poppy Syndrome and toxic behaviors, Spite delves into the ways people either remain unaware of their negativity or fully embrace it. Built on ripping riffs, scorching vocals, and relentless energy, the track is a powerful reflection of internal conflict and self-awareness.

“It wasn’t until I hit my mid 20’s that I really started to realize how common Tall Poppy Syndrome and toxic, spiteful tendencies are in people. Now as I approach turning 40, witnessing people mature into these traits that they have cultivated, I feel they either A) Remain ignorant to their ways, or B) Lean into it with an uncompromising acceptance and truly own the person they have become. In all honesty I prefer the latter – at least it’s honest. “SPITE’ is the embodiment of this duality, whilst also weaving in and out of an intertwined internal battle of realisation and defeat.” – Haast Hunter.

Produced by award-winning engineer Scott Seabright and mastered by the legendary Ted Jensen (Post Malone, Deftones, Bring Me The Horizon), Spite is as sonically massive as its themes. The band also teamed up with Colin Jeffs of Ten Of Swords (In Hearts Wake, Make Them Suffer, Redhook) to create a visually striking music video that matches the track’s intensity.

With their upcoming album on the horizon, Haast Hunter are setting the stage for their biggest year yet. Watch Spite now, exclusively on AAA Backstage, before it officially drops tomorrow.
