Premiere: Helen Shanahan Unveils Her Stunning New Single, ‘Canvas’

Perth-based singer-songwriter Helen Shanahan will this week unveil her stunning and emotional new single, Canvas. We’re super happy today to be giving you the very first spin of the new track ahead of it’s release this Friday 4th Feb.

Helen is a wonderful songwriter and Canvas portrays that enormously. It whisks through your ears like a soft wind through a forest on a lazy afternoon. Soft and beautiful guitar work steadily reign throughout the tune with Helen’s delightful vocal ability adding to the deep touch this one has to offer. It’s just over three and a half minutes pureness at the highest level.

Canvas is taken from Helen’s forth coming album of the same name due for release March 4th. It’s quite the sad tune however introspective and reflective with some uplifting appeal to note.

The single was inspired by a theme from a songwriting group (I Heart Songwriting Club) I joined in 2018.  The theme was ‘lessons’, and it made me think about how I learnt to make myself small and essentially a doormat for a particular group of people.  The song brought up lots of mixed emotions, as it unravelled how that relationship effected my adult life and how I had to ‘unlearn’ my feelings of low self-esteem and worth.” – Helen Shanahan

Helen will be treating WA residents to an album launch at the Night Owl Studio in Morley this Saturday March 5th.

“I am so excited to perform these songs with my wonderful band.  We are set to perform the album in full at Night Owl Studio, where we will also aim to live stream the event.  The audience can expect a faithful representation of my recorded work, and some of my older songs too.”

Helen’s Shanahan’s wonderful new single Canvas is out this Friday, 4th Feb but you can listen right here exclusively today! You can also pre-save Canvas here.
