Premiere: Poison Oak Unveil New Jam, ‘Skateboard Kid’

Today we’re super thrilled to exclusively premiere Poison Oak’s brand-new single ‘Skateboard Kid’ ahead of its official release tomorrow. The Townsville indie-punk rockers have built a fierce reputation for their heartfelt songwriting and electrifying live shows and this latest track is another testament to their growing legacy.

‘Skateboard Kid’ is a nostalgic anthem that captures the rush of reliving your youth — shaking off the 9-to-5 grind, ditching responsibility for a moment, and remembering the carefree chaos that shaped who you are today.

“Skateboard Kid is about reliving your youth for just one night.Taking a break from the 9-5, white picket life of responsibilities. It’s also about reflecting on your youth, smiling about those silly, stupid things you did, as they made you who you are today. Not to look back in regret but in nostalgic happiness. It also reflects that maybe these things you get sold when you’re young, about how you should live your life (good job, buy a house etc. etc.). It’s not all that cracked up to be, what you are sold. Basically, there is no blueprint on how one should live their life!”

The single follows a huge run of releases for Poison Oak, including ‘Wasted’, ‘Tell Me’, and ‘Little Bit Like You’, which earned global radio play and praise from some of the biggest tastemakers on the planet. Produced by Brock Weston (Bugs, Beddy Rays, Dune Rats), ‘Skateboard Kid’ continues the band’s streak of raw, melodic anthems that balance grit with heart.

‘Skateboard Kid’ is set for release tomorrow but you can stream it first, right here on AAA Backstage today!
