PREMIERE: Royce Drixhen’s Working Hard In Hypnotic New Single “The Cause”
In a scene dominated by groups like Hilltop Hoods, Spit Syndicate, and charismatic emcees like Allday and Ivan Ooze, it’s often hard for new rappers on the block to break through. But Sydney rapper Royce Drixhen is turning plenty of heads with his deep beats and silky flow, seen in no better example than his latest single The Cause.
The track’s an epic collision of Kanye’s mainstream beats and Drapht’s lyrical genius, which is bound to shake up the Aussie hip hop scene.
The Cause is Drixhen’s third single released since January, is paving the way for many more songs before the year is out. The lyrics show his dedication and eagerness to do what he loves and his preparation to work hard for his cause, “Busy on the grind now/working overtime now”.
The epic intro sucks you in and sets the scene for the booming track, while Drixhen’s rapping is smooth and natural like the theoretical waves he’s making in the hip hop scene.
Drixhen drew inspiration for his music from a hard childhood and it’s evident in his lyrics. “I started writing music to express myself and my problems as I came from a broken home. I lived in foster care at the age of 16 in a place called Bannister House which looked after abused and homeless children.
“Not saying life was hard, but it wasn’t easy and the only thing that ever made me feel truly better about the problems was writing them down into rhyme/poetry/musical format to express myself,” said Drixhen.
Creating music is his greatest joy and we’re expecting big things from this dude, listen to The Cause down below!
