Pridelands Release Charged Up New Single “Battery City”

Pridelands Promo shot

After releaseing the absolute banger Coalesce just two months ago, Pridelands have hit us with yet another ferocious single in the form of Battery City!

The track is an incredibly balanced sonic attack, featuring vocalist Mason Bunt’s brutal screams along with Joshua Cory’s smooth cleans. Instrumentally, Battery City has some very solid riffs and complimentary lead guitar lines built on top of a very tight, fast-paced rhythm section. At about the three-minute mark, Battery City features a contrasting stripped back vocal section, with some beautiful clean guitar tones, before erupting into a brutal sonic frenzy which is sure to get your adrenaline going!

This high-energy onslaught is very personal to the Pridelands guys, as it focuses on the repetitive, monotonous rut that life can be sometimes. “This song is about having a sense of escapism enter your life” says Bunt, “A new set of eyes for the world, in which you see it as a machine and not a living, breathing, entity”. Drummer, Jordan McDonald says, “It’s all about the desire to break out of the mirror-imaged lifestyle that routine and substances reign over somebody. The desire to flip the tables on your life.”

Hailing from Mount Gambier, South Australia, three quarters of the band moved to Melbourne to pursue their musical ventures. The band’s general sound is akin to that of fellow Aussie Hardcore giants The Brave and Northlane in some respects, but features their own unique nuances, making them a band to keep an eye on for sure.

Following the release of their incredibly impressive ‘Natives’ EP, featuring brutal hardcore tracks like Devil’s Snare and Coffin Bound, Pridelands came out with their first release of 2016, Coalesce, which boasted a solid maturation in both the overall sound and writing approach. Showing that it wasn’t just a fluke, the quartet have now backed it up! While there are no tours planned for the near future we can only hope that Pridelands will return to the stage soon with some tasty new material!
