Q & A: Soto Voce

Los Angeles-based duo Soto Voce have been turning plenty of heads with the release of their brooding electronic debut single Better and it’s cinematic, politically charged music video. We asked the duo a few questions to get to know their music and creative processes a little bit better!

For the uninitiated, how would you describe Soto Voce’s sound and live shows?

Dark, sensual, and explosive.

Better is quite a thrilling track, where did that inspiration come from?

It came from heart ache. Loss of a love that you never had.

The music video also features some pretty dark and powerful imagery, tell us more about how it came together?

Its inspired by the contrasts that exist in our society that we as humans still have yet to evolve beyond.

How have your respective backgrounds had an impact on your sound?

I believe our past future & present all arrive in our music. Why? Because that’s how we like it!

Do you feel Soto Voce’s music can play a part in easing racial tensions in America?

No. Because it’s gonna take more then a few tunes and a black and white video to ease that demon…

What can fans expect from your upcoming EP?

You can expect a deeper peek into the Soto Voce sound and our majestic world.

At the moment you guys haven’t announced any live shows, any plans for a tour? If so, will you make it Down Under?

We definitely wouldn’t leave you all out of course!!! We are currently perfecting our show and will be ready soon!! The question is will you?

Lastly, what does the future involve for Soto Voce?

As benevolent creatures and controllers of the sound our only plans on this planet is to enchant this world with the light of our sound.
