QMusic Announces 2016 Nominees & Live Performances
The 2016 Q Music Awards (QMAs) are quickly approaching! The judges have unveiled this year’s nominees and live performances, set to appear at the Brisbane Powerhouse this March.
The QMAs aim to recognize the extensive musical artistry that has emerged from Queensland, and with 15 different award categories and nominees chosen from over 50 judges, no talent will go unnoticed.
Eves The Behavior is an exciting, young emerging artist who tops the list of most nominations this year with three noms over two different categories – Best Pop Song with TV and two nods for Best Music Video; one for TV and the other for Electrical.
Brisbane is known for producing some heavy hitting rock bands, so it’s no surprise that bands like Violent Soho, Velociraptor, The Belligerents, and WE ALL WANT TO received nods from the QMA judges this year.
Along with discovering a plethora of artists worthy of nominations, the QMAs also do a great job of showcasing some of Queensland’s shiniest stars. We can expect to see live performances from the indie-psych band The Belligerents, Sunshine Coast singer-songwriter Ayla, seven-piece hip-hop group Astro Travellers, and the soulful Standby Empire, just to name a few.
The yearly Bank of Queensland People’s Choice Awards will also be presented, with the Queensland population deciding which artists are most deserving of becoming 2016’s Most Promising Female, Most Promising Male, and Most Promising Songwriting Team. The nominees for the People’s Choice categories will be announced on Monday 22 February. Voting will be open to the public later this month.
