Ripple Effect Band Releases Moving Music Video for ‘Loving and Caring’

Today, Ripple Effect Band, an all-woman group from Maningrida in West Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, released the official music video for their 2023 single, “Loving and Caring.” Known for singing in Ndjébbana, Burarra, Na-kara, and Kune, the band has captivated audiences with their heartfelt music and cultural stories.

Loving and Caring is a tribute to band member Tara Rostron’s late sister, blending Kune and English lyrics to deliver an emotional message. The music video, co-directed by Jodie Kell, Tara Rostron, Kai McGilvray, and Anje Rosendell-Piper, showcases the beauty of Maningrida, from freshwater escarpments to saltwater coasts. It features dance by Sethlena Olsen from the Maningrida Dance Group, symbolizing hope and positivity for the community’s youth.

Tara Rostron expressed that the song aims to inspire positivity and forward-thinking, encouraging people to overcome past worries. Lead guitarist Jodie Kell highlighted the video’s celebration of their journey as women musicians, documenting their experiences touring Australia.

The band will perform live across the Northern Territory, starting with a show in Maningrida on July 25, followed by appearances at the Daminmin Festival, Bustard Town, and the Desert Harmony Festival.
