Royel Otis Unveil New Single, ‘Velvet’

Today, Sydney’s finest indie pairing, Royel Otis, kickstarts their 2024 with the new single, Velvet. The new jam is taken from their forthcoming debut album, Pratts & Pain, due on February 16.

Taking its place as the fourth track on PRATTS & PAIN, Velvet joins the ranks of earlier releases in 2023, including the chart-topping Adored, the spirited Fried Rice, and the latest addition, Heading For The Door. The duo unites in a harmonious chant in this latest musical offering, accompanied by a foot-stomping blend of resonant guitars and lively keys. The result is a cathartic release, a sonic journey that serves as a robust embrace of one’s flaws and a celebration of self-acceptance.

“Velvet is the evolution of yet another failed endeavor.” – Royel Otis.

Crafted under the expert guidance of Grammy Award-winning producer Dan Carey (known for his work with Wet Leg), Otis Pavlovic and Royel Maddell present their inaugural masterpiece, PRATTS & PAIN. Serving as the duo’s debut album, it is a testament to their musical prowess. The album derives its name from the South London pub just around the corner from Carey’s renowned home studio, where countless lyrics were penned, and sonic directions charted over shared pints on Pratts & Payne bar stools. The musical journey navigates seamlessly between melodic, pop-inspired indie and dreamy psych landscapes, refusing to be confined to a single genre. With daring detours into psychedelic eccentricity and dissonant noise, Royel Otis captivates listeners, ensuring an unpredictable ride that keeps everyone on their toes. Following the band’s swift ascent to global prominence with two EPs, PRATTS & PAIN emerges as the cohesive record propelling them into a limitless chapter of boundless adventures.

Indulge in a burst of energy with Royel Otis as they serve up a spirited preview of their upcoming debut album, PRATTS & PAIN, with the release of the dynamic single “Velvet” – a tantalising glimpse into what awaits in February.
