San Cisco Return With New Friendzoning Anthem “B-Side”
Surprise! San Cisco is back with their friendzoning, twangy new single and video B-Side.
We can all breathe a sigh of relief as band frontman, Jordi Davidson, cleared his vocal surgery earlier this year and is back stronger than ever. The Freemantle collective has since returned to the studio to record a new album set for release in early 2017. If this mouthwatering taster is anything to go by, the new album is going to be one to watch.
Premiered on triple j this morning, B-Side is an uptempo, well-intentioned admission of two protagonists who are destined to only be friends. When Jordi and Scarlett’s vocals mesh together the song feels wholesome, giving the track the hallmark San Cisco vibe. A rolling drum pattern breathes life into the surfy melody, and is given colour by a nasally guitar solo. It’s enticing, cruisy and the perfect summer jam to sink your teeth into.
The video sees two characters gallivanting across Japan, playing Dance Dance Revolution and declare to each other in the most delightful way possible “let’s just be friends”. Shot by Jordi’s younger sister Peppa and her boyfriend on their holiday, the shaky snapchat style of footage tells the tale perfectly.
The story is one we’ve all experienced before. Boy and girl hold hands at 2 AM, lines get crossed, and confusion ensues. The result is always the same, let’s stay friends. This painfully relatable, up-tempo track is just what the doctor ordered. Listen to B-Side below, and check out the music video HERE
