Screaming Females Announce Debut Australian Tour & Exclusive Release

Screaming Females

Alternative Punk outfit Screaming Females have announced their debut Australian tour and an exclusive release of music just for Aussie fans.

Fronted by Marissa Paternoster, who was voted as one of SPIN Magazine’s ‘Top 100 Guitarists Of All Time’, the band is well-known for their frenetic guitar riffs and intricate drumming.

Ripe, the lead single from the trio’s sixth full-length album ‘Rose Mountain’, showcases the band’s intensity and creativity which they produce in both their music and live shows.

Paternoster’s groovy, mosh-inspiring lead guitar work compliments her self-produced harmonies, as the song weaves in and out of dense heavy sections and tranquil, melodic passages to form a well composed tune.

The second single Empty Head is a slower and more melodic track than Ripe. Paternoster’s guitar shredding takes a back seat as her vocals and the band’s collective sound become more prominent, proving how well composed they have become as a group over their 10-year career. Rather than harmonising with herself, Paternoster’s vocal work is backed by one of her two male counterparts, adding diversity and texture to the song.

The group gained online recognition for their unique rendition of Tay-tay’s Shake It Off. Putting a spin on the much loved pop song, the band offers some relaxed grooves that permeates from the bass work of Michael Abbate. Spearheaded by Paternoster’s vocal performance yet again, she uses both her typical punk style and her haunting lower range to deliver a cover that guarantees to impress listeners
