Sex on Toast Drop New Album ‘Pegasus’: A Funky Cinematic Ride

Melbourne funk-soul veterans, Sex on Toast, are back with their highly anticipated album, Pegasus, officially released today. Known for their electrifying live performances and quirky charm, the band marks a major milestone with this latest release, blending surreal Hollywood glitz with edgy funk grooves in an ambitious, two-part sonic journey.

After two decades in the music scene, Sex on Toast has cemented their legendary status. They’ve packed venues since 2014 and recently shared the stage with Todd Rundgren during his Australian tour. Their breakout hit, ‘Oh, Loretta’, amassed over 13 million streams, and now, with Pegasus, the group is taking their creative vision to the next level.

Composed in Los Angeles and slowly brought to life in Melbourne, Pegasus draws from a wide range of influences—classic film soundtracks, theatrical rock, and Motown—with contributions from over 36 top-tier musicians, including Australian jazz icon Barney McAll and comedian Neil Hamburger.

Featuring standout tracks like the groovy opener ‘Somebody Like You’, the melancholic and synth-driven ‘But You Still Whine?’, and the heartfelt closer ‘Enrique’, the album delivers a cinematic listening experience. Packed with twists and lush arrangements, Pegasus offers listeners an immersive, unpredictable ride from start to finish.

Fans can also look forward to a national tour across Australia in November and December to celebrate the release of Pegasus.
