Shakafest Q & A: PLANET

PLANET

Sydney’s PLANET have been killing it with a stack of live dates lately, supporting The Delta Riggs and The Creases, as well as dropping some smooth indie rock bangers of their own. With Shakafest fast approaching on the horizon, we asked the boys about what we can expect from them at the Goldy’s skate celebration!

When’s the best time to throw a shaka?

There’s no “best time” to throw a shaka. If you’re stoked about something throw it up there, let the world know!

When’s the worst time to throw a shaka?

The worst time to throw a shaka would be right after someone asks, “which two fingers do you want amputated?”

Apart from shaka-ing, how do you express you’re having a good time?

If we’re not throwing a shaka, you better believe I’m dropping that pinky back down to create the shaka’s half brother, the thumbs up!

If you were responsible for setting the dress code for Shakafest 2016 what would you make mandatory and what’s prohibited?

I reckon we’d ban vans and Thrasher hoodies, just to fuck with people. It’s probably a good thing that we’re not in charge of anything important.

On a scale of zero to Tony Hawk, what is your skateboarding ability?

Well, only one of us can skate, so crunching the numbers real quick, that’d give us a combined score of 0.2 Tony Hawks (assuming that Tony Hawk represents 1). It’s kind of a confusing question…

If you had to make a new skateboarding trick what would it be and what would you call it?

It’d have to be something easy that beginners could do. We’d call it the “Cop Out” and all it would involve would be skating directly into a cop.

For the uninitiated, how do you describe your band’s sound and live show?

It’s a pretty big sound. Lots of melodies, very guitar driven with pounding drums and bass

Why should punters at Shakafest 2016 check you out?

If you’re looking for a new favourite band then come check us out

What are three things people should know about your band?

First thing, they should know is that we write good tunes. Second is that they should get down for the start of the set before I get too pissed and forget how to play my instrument. And lastly, we’re all friendly dudes, so come say hi and have a beer with us after the show.

Lastly, what are you most looking forward to about Shakafest 2016?

I’m very keen to see Dunies play. Those dudes never disappoint with a live show.
