Skegss Drop Surprise EP Top Heavy Amid Massive 2025 National Tour
Beloved Byron Bay indie rockers Skegss have unveiled a brand new EP titled Top Heavy, marking an exciting new chapter in the band’s evolving sonic journey. Out now, the EP features recent singles So Excited and State of Hawaii — two tracks that show a noticeable shift in sound from their acclaimed 2023 album Pacific Highway Music.
Known for their raw energy and garage-rock charm, Skegss approached Top Heavy with spontaneity front of mind. “We made this in the spur of the moment kind of thing,” frontman Benny Reed shares. “A few of the songs kind of came out on the spot and we tried to capture it before brewing on them for too long. It was a very fun process.”

The new EP arrives as Skegss continue their biggest Australian tour to date, a coast-to-coast trek that includes a VIVID Sydney feature and follows massive festival sets at Laneway earlier this year. With previous international headline tours across North America, Europe, and the UK, the band’s global momentum is only growing.
Top Heavy is a loose, confident and creatively free release that captures Skegss at their most instinctive — proof that sometimes the best art comes without overthinking.
