Somber Hills Drops Breezy New Single ‘Vacancy’ Featuring Jeida Woods

Somber Hills, the Aotearoa-raised, Eora-based artist known for his dynamic fusion of genres, returns with his latest single, Vacancy, featuring Perth R&B innovator Jeida Woods. Marking a sonic shift from his signature guitar-driven punk anthems, this track embraces alt-pop influences while still incorporating the rap, hyperpop, and emo elements that define his unique style.

Produced by Joe Mason, ‘Vacancy’ paints a cinematic picture of a fleeting summer romance, where dreams and desires clash. Somber Hills describes the song as unfolding like a movie, telling the story of a love interest who struggles to believe in the protagonist’s ambitions.

“Sometimes when I hear a beat, I like to set a scene in my mind – like a movie – and write a song about how it might play out in a film. ‘VACANCY’ is set around a summer fling, where the love interest doesn’t quite believe in the main character’s dreams they’re pursuing, and walls are put up. Although they don’t quite see eye to eye, when they see each other for the summer they’re all in. The lead knows if the love interest were to open up a bit, they could be amazing, but unfortunately, this will only last the summer. No vacancy.” – Somber Hills.
