Sophian Unveil Passionate New Single, ‘Changing The Weather’

Boorloo/Perth-based indie-rock band Sophian have dropped their powerful new single, Changing The Weather, the final taste from their forthcoming debut EP, Somewhere In Between, due for release on Friday, October 4.

Produced by Dave Parkin at Blackbird Studios (known for his work with Spacey Jane, Sly Withers, and Old Mervs), the track is a cascade of heartfelt emotion, brought to life by Sophian Manik’s emotive vocal delivery. Anchored by a pulsing bassline and rich, textured instrumentation, ‘Changing The Weather’ embodies the band’s distinctive indie-rock spirit.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind the track, Sophian explains, “‘Changing The Weather’ captures the anxiety and hope that come with personal transformation. The lyrics depict the journey of someone striving for self-improvement, inspired by a heartfelt conversation with their partner. The metaphor of changing weather reflects the inevitable yet sometimes turbulent path towards becoming a better version of oneself, learning to embrace both the beautiful and challenging aspects of change.”

In support of the new release, the band will embark on a regional stripped-back tour across Western Australia, performing at venues such as Hybrid Warehouse and Bungalow Social, alongside local talents Daisy Park, Charlie Youngson and Keeley Connolly.

With Somewhere In Between just around the corner, Changing The Weather showcases Sophian’s ability to balance raw emotion with dynamic musicality, marking them as a standout in the indie space.
