Space-Bass Defenders Dubmarine Drop Spaceship Battle Music Video

Brisbane’s Dubmarine are not an outfit who do things halfheartedly, so it’s only fitting their latest music video is a captivating fully-animated production. The 9-piece have released the music video for their track Solar Fire Flare as a short animated space adventure. The video is an absorbing animation that depicts a battle between two large armadas, an entertaining backdrop to the pulsating dub-reggae track.

The 80s style animation of Solar Fire Flare is very well done, so much so that it wouldn’t look out of place running after Nightrider, a considerable feat for an underground space-pop band. The animated space battle shows two generals in a tug of war pitting each other’s fleets against one another with a variety of destructive beams and projectiles.

A variety of characters from both sides, who we assume are caricatures of the band members, are shown during the clip which adds to the depth of the production, and the outcome of the battle isn’t revealed until the very end. Local hip hop act Bullhorn also get an unconventional shoutout as their name appears on one of the bombs dropped throughout the space battle.

The song itself is an interesting sound, the product of a number of different genres coming together. Drum and bass, electro, and even a touch of reggae can be heard in Solar Fire Flare. The impressive capabilities of dual vocalists Billie Weston and D-Kazman also add plenty of pep and punch to the track that delivers plenty of swagger and beats to get late night revellers moving.
