Spaceships Q & A: Stace Cadet

Stace Cadet

Melbourne’s freshest dance recruit Stace Cadet has us cutting plenty of shapes in the AAA office with his latest single Molly Happy. We asked the enigmatic producer how he’d cope being captain of his own spaceship, meeting aliens, and the (not at all suspicious) inspiration behind his new banger…

What kind of food would you stock up with and why?

Space food of course! You know those little tubes of pureed beef and mash? My grandmother, bless her heart, worked with NASA for three months to develop a unique menu containing all my favourite Greek cuisine’s including Mousaka, Pastitsou, and Tiramisou. I have shelves of that sh*t…

Who would eat all the emergency rations on the first day?

Me. I’m a lonely traveler and when I’m lonely I eat my feelings.

Which planet would you fly to first and what would you do when you got there?

Mars. I hear they have the best crowds. I would put a bloody flag in it!

Who would be elected pilot of the spaceship?

As I mentioned I’m a solo hunter, but I would set that mother to cruise control and enjoy the views!

How would you decorate the spaceship?

Black on black on black. Probably convert the whole ship into a studio. Record the first ever album in the mystic skies…

What would you do if you ran into an alien?

Get it in the studio ASAP and record a banger. Maybe propose, start a family, buy a house, argue over bills, get divorced, and see them every second weekend when I pick up the kids…

What’s the first thing you would do when you got back to earth?

Call my mother, she’d be worried.

For the uninitiated, how would you describe Stace Cadet’s sound and live show?

For the moment it is a DJ set that includes a few of my tracks and a host of others I enjoy. In the works is a bigger show with many live elements including visuals and props, woo!

We’re loving your single Molly Happy, what’s the inspiration behind the song?

Thank you kindly! The track is the result of an adventure myself some friends had over in the U.S at a festival called Electric Forest. We may have dabbled and Molly Happy is my interpretation of said dabbling’s…

Lastly, tell us three things people should know about your live shows?

  1. Just finished a tour, so hopefully there will be plenty more in the future.
  2. I travel with the help of my friends at Virgin because NASA don’t offer frequent flyer points.
  3. There’s lots of dancing!
