Spacey Jane Unveil New Single ‘How to Kill Houseplants’ Ahead of Upcoming Album and Tour

Beloved Perth indie-rockers Spacey Jane have returned with their latest single, How to Kill Houseplants, a heartfelt track exploring love, loss, and the struggle to hold onto a fading relationship. Inspired by the power-pop balladry of 80s Aussie legends Icehouse and INXS, the song sees frontman Caleb Harper grappling with emotional turmoil, likening his inability to mend a broken relationship to his history of failing to keep houseplants alive.

I feel awful and I want to save this thing and I don’t know how to do it I should know how to do this by now, but I don’t: I’ve killed 35 creeping ivies.” – Caleb Harper.

The single arrives ahead of the band’s highly anticipated third album, If That Makes Sense, set for release on 9 May. Produced by Mike Crossey (The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, Wolf Alice) and featuring collaborations with Jackson “Day Wave” Phillips and Sarah Aarons (Childish Gambino, Miley Cyrus), the album promises an evolution in Spacey Jane’s sound while maintaining their signature emotional depth.

To celebrate the release, Spacey Jane will embark on a massive Australia and New Zealand tour starting 27 May in Wellington before heading across both countries. Supported by The Moving Stills and Phoebe Go, the tour will conclude with a hometown residency in Perth.

With past hits like Booster Seat and All the Noise cementing their status as one of Australia’s most adored indie acts, How to Kill Houseplants is another step toward what could be Spacey Jane’s most defining era yet.
