Splendour In The Grass Rumours: Mid Feb Update

2014_sitg_outkast

As tradition stands, the first announcement of the 2016 Fuji Rock Festival is the perfect time to start speculating on the possible headliners and more for Splendour In The Grass 2016.

The two festivals, both located in the Asia Pacific, have a habit for sharing acts and even headliners in the past.  This means the likes of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sigur Ros, and Disclosure may be amongst the names on #SITG16 bill.

Other likely acts we could possibly be seeing on the SITG16 line up include:

  • Lana Del Rey – She hasn’t been here since 2012 and has indicated on more than one occasion that she wants to return to Australia
  • The 1975 – Although the band did just complete a headline tour, The 1975 are due to release a new album this month and have a massive gap in their tour dates just in time for Splendour
  • Sia – Splendour In The Grass always has a mix of international and local acts so it isn’t entirely unlikely to see Sia on the bill, especially considering she has a tour gap between May and August

Some other acts that have tour gaps in July that we could possibly see on the bill include Angus & Julia Stone, Kaiser Chiefs, Muse, and Matt Corby.

Acts that we can only wish for that haven’t been completely ruled out yet include Kanye West, Frank Ocean, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

And lets not forget Aussie legend Shannon Noll, who was recently snubbed from the Groovin the Moo lineup, already has fans campaigning to see him on the Splendour line up.

However, sadly the WayHome Music & Arts Festival in Canada has ruled out a heap of would be Splendour acts including LCD Sound System, HAIM, and CHVRCHES. Alongside artists on the Wayhome lineup, The Jezabels can also be added to the not playing list due to the sad news of their keyboardist’s battle with cancer.
