SPOTLIGHT: From Emo Rock To Indie Pop! Selahphonic Drop New Single
Possibly the greatest transformation to come of an emerging indie band. From touring mid-00s emo rock at Australian high schools in 2013 to dropping a massive electro infused indie-pop anthem, Selahphonic have changed… and for the good. Selahphonic are back in business with new single Ghosts of 1999.
The Sunshine Coast outfit are two EPs deep into their sound and from the release of their first EP ‘Dark Places & Great Escapes’ back in 2007 they’ve created a completely different style for themselves. Dropping their self-titled EP ‘Selahphonic’ in August last year the release was greatly underrated. Pursuing with a modest national single tour for Lions At The Gate Selahphonic received critical acclaim and took out the Channel V Discover comp with Heartbreak Heartbreak.
Ghosts Of 1999 nails the ultimate indie-pop anthem, hitting somewhere between The 1975 and Neon Trees. Loaded with anthematic quality, the single has the ability to instantaneously loop in your mind with it’s infectious chorus. Whilst till holding onto classic rock instrumentation with lively drums and electric guitars, Ghosts Of 1999 seamlessly combines synthetic production with instrumental recording.
To celebrate the single, Selaphonic have announced an East Coast tour. Check out the dates below!
