Sunny Luwe Pens Emotional Climate Anthem ‘Letter to the Future’

Queensland-based pop artist and Wayilwan woman Sunny Luwe returns with one of her most powerful releases yet, Letter to the Future. Known for her soaring vocals and heartfelt songwriting, Sunny delivers a stripped-back, acoustic track that doubles as a poignant message to the next generation amid the escalating climate crisis.

Originally written in 2020 while working as a teacher, Letter to the Future evolved into a deeply personal single crafted with her producer and partner, Matthew Collins (WHARVES). The result is a gentle yet urgent track that blends poetic storytelling with minimalist production, allowing Sunny’s raw emotion and message to shine through.

“Around the time of Covid, I was really impressed to see the world come together to address the pandemic and I wondered, when will we do the same thing about the climate crisis for the next generation?”

Beyond the music, Sunny continues to walk the walk. She offset the environmental impact of the release via Gondwana Rainforest Trust, and has created a practical guide for other artists to follow suit. Recently appointed as Green Music Australia’s inaugural Board Observer, Sunny is leading by example in eco-conscious music-making.

“Carbon offsetting this project is something I am very passionate about—I dream of living in a world where how we care for the environment is at the forefront of each project and endeavour. I also realised that I can step into my own power and be that change by offsetting my single and educating people about it through the release,”

Having already won fans with performances at BIGSOUND, St Kilda Festival and more, Letter to the Future reinforces Sunny Luwe’s status as a rising force in Australian pop with purpose.
