“Superwoman” Rebecca Ferguson Delivers Empowering New Album

British soul-pop sensation Rebecca Ferguson has released ‘Superwoman’, her latest album about the trials and tribulations of womanhood.

Ferguson gave us a taste of the new album last month with the release of the single Bones, which is also the first track on the album. Bones is a sad yet catchy pop ballad about the pain of reminiscing a past relationship. It’s the kind of song you should definitely listen to while stalking your ex on Facebook, face-deep in ice-cream.

The rest of the twelve track album continues to explore the break up theme with a strong focus on female empowerment. Passionate lyrics, powerful vocals, and classical band backing underlie the entire album, allowing Ferguson to explore similar vocal styles to Adele, Christina Aguilera, and Aretha Franklin.

Ferguson says the inspiration behind ‘Superwoman’ is the strength gained from giving birth to a child, despite having been abandoned by her lover. “It’s my most personal album ever and it’s brought me to a place in my life where I feel strong. I called it Superwoman because I learnt to embrace my vulnerability and accept it as a strength,” she said.

‘Superwoman’ is Ferguson’s fourth release, following up ‘Lady Sings the Blues’, ‘Freedom’, and her acclaimed debut ‘Heaven’. To celebrate her new release, Ferguson is about to kick off an international tour. You go spread that female empowerment gurl!
