Sydney Festival? More like Sickney Festival!

sydney-festival

Sydney Festival is back again in January 2017 with 150 events that will cover high-quality Australian art, dance, theatre and music. The focus for the 2017 edition will be “the senses”, and some of the events will encourage the audiences to participate and fully immerse themselves.

Overall Sydney festival offers 454 performances that will take place across 46 venues, featuring 1021 artists from 15 countries. With 16 world premieres, 9 Australian premieres and 14 Australian exclusives. Damn son, dats some numbers!

Headlining the music section is none other than the enigmatic Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds who will be performing their most recent release, ‘Skeleton Tree’. Also performing (for the first time since 2012) is PJ Harvey, who will be bringing along with her a 10-piece band to further enhance the musical experience.

On the intimate side of things, St Stephen’s Music will provide performances from dreamy soul artist Moses Sumney and electronic producer Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith. If orchestras are your thing, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra will be doing a free performance as well, so take a rug and jam out!

Of course, there’s WAY more to see and do at the Sydfest, so make sure to check out a circus performance or any of the amazing art exhibitions on offer. There’s even some burlesque if you’re feeling a little…adventurous.

We urge punters to check out the website for a full list of the complete set of performers, because we would have some very sore fingers trying to type up a list of 1021 artists!
