Take 5 With Dooz

Recently Melbourne hip hop legend, Dooz unveiled his awesome new single, Lovely which we had the joy of bringing you the very first listen of. Today we thought we’d throw the mic back to Dooz to find out his all time musical inspirations! This is one of the best playlists I’ve seen in a long time, such a diverse selection!

Sun Is Shining – Bob Marley

This song has the ability to enhance your mood and vibe no matter what. I have always found deep resonance in music that is uplifting and concepts that are simple but relatable and give perspective.. something as simple as the appreciation that the sun is shining and the weather is sweet.

“Sun is shining, the weather is sweet, yeah

Make you wanna move your dancing feet now

To the rescue, here I am

Want you to know, y’all, can you understand? ”

Two Bodies – Flight Facilities

Since I was as young as I can remember I have had an obsession with female vocalists of all kinds. From as young as I can remember I would get goosebumps on my skin when I would hear a females vibrato, verses, choruses, in all different types of genres and almost feel a healing effect before I knew what that was. In this song her expression for just wanting to be held and emotion in her voice. Medicinal.

Do For Love – 2pac

This song puts me in a good vibe when I’m being creative, travelling, training and enjoying free times. With 2pac’s smooth flow and an even smoother beat to match. With an epic singer on the hook whats not to love about this track.

Tupac was a big inspiration to me in my early early years when I started writing raps at 8-9 years old and continues to be to this day, the art of story telling.

Cameldriver – Bahramji

I have always had a fascination with middle eastern music since I was exposed to the rave/bush festival scene in my teen years and the music that comes with that. Middle eastern instruments, vocals, sound, beats make me move like no other. The combination of heavy clean basslines, male and female eastern vocals and sitar can do something to your body that i cant put into words. If you have experienced this at home or at 3am on a dance floor in the middle of the forest you’ll understand what I’m talking about. Put some head phones in, turn this song up loud and see what happens.

Burna Boy – Ocean Wisdom

You cant beat Ocean Wisdom’s word play, catchy hooks and flow. I relate to Ocean’s story in this song of his mates making the wrong decisions and ending up in jail or being roadman. You could have made millions, struggles with family, struggles with the system. I love Ocean’s versatility in rapping over all styles of music, something I am doing in my career.

Dooz dynamic new single, Lovely is available now, everywhere.
