Take 5 With Lemonade Baby

After a successful run of 2021 releases, Lemonade Baby is back with his first release of the year, Electric Girl. It carries on with that indie-pop nostalgic kind of feel that we’ve come to know of Lemonade Baby. To get to know LB a little better, we thought we’d ask him who is musical inspirations are.

Zedd, Grey – The Middle (ft. Maren Morris)

Electric Girl started with chords… then I started to sing, ‘The Middle’ (^ this song), then I thought maybe this could be a cover?

I will say this song sounds sooo good with just guitar and vocals, maybe that’s what sparked the idea…

The La’s – There She Goes
ahh yes..
So I stumbled upon some videos of Mac Demarco singing ‘There She Goes’ and was amazed that I’d never heard the song before… I fell in love and now I listen to it all the time, its still in my personal rotation..

Kim Carnes – Bette Davis Eyes

I have a love hate relationship with this song.. i’ll swing between thinking its a smash or is a crash, either way its what the punters like and if it’s good enough for the punters it’s good enough for me.

Oasis – Rock ’n’ Roll Star

ultimate rockage…

Iggy Pop – Real Wild Child (Wild One)

Iggy is an amazing performer… On stage he doesn’t give a sh*t and in the studio he also doesn’t give a sh*t..

I like how the snare in this record is huge, and imma big fan of his “ooh yeah” at 0.38s

Lemonade Baby’s new single, Electric Girl is available now, everywhere via our good pals, Mammal Sounds.
