Take 5 With Steph Wood

Sydney based Indie Folk artist Steph Wood recently released her debut single called ‘Ballerina’, which we had the joy of premiering just last month. To get to know Steph a little better we sat down with her to find out her favourite 5 artists of the minute.

Jade Bird

I am a huge fan of Jade Bird! My favorite songs of hers are ‘What am I here for’ and ‘Does anybody know’. Her voice melts me and I fall in love with her sound all over again, every time I hear these songs. Her lyrics are so heartfelt and honest and I love the stripped back arrangements as it really lets her voice shine.

Slow Burn (Kacey Musgraves)

This song is magical and allows you to drift off into a happy place. When I heard this song for the first time I got goosebumps just as the bass and drums came in the second verse. Kaceys voice is really soothing and slow burn is my comfort song.

Phoebe Bridgers

Phoebe is probably one of my favourite artists of all time. I love her haunting and intimate vocals. She is so smart and a fantastic songwriter. Every song I listen to I am so invested in what she is saying, her story telling is incredible. Scott Street is one of my favorite songs of all time. I love that it is a made up story however everyone that listens to it has their own personal story that relates so hard.

Don’t Delete the Kisses (Wolf Alice)

Singing (screaming) this song at the top of your lungs whilst driving in the car is the best form of therapy.

Savannah Conley

All 3 tracks on her EP ‘Twenty-Twenty’ are just perfect. Savannah’s voice sends my brain crazy, I love it. I think the arrangements and the overall production is so beautiful and she writes great lyrics that I really resonate with.

Steph’s debut single, Ballerina is available now, everywhere.
