Tame Impala Win Best International Group at BRIT Awards

Tame Impala BRIT

A big congratulations to our very own psych-rock outfit Tame Impala for being one of the big winners at the 2016 BRIT Awards in London last night! Kevin Parker and co. won the award for Best International Group for their amazing 2015 album ‘Currents’, beating Major Lazer, Alabama Shakes, U2, and Eagles Of Death Metal.

The Perth band missed out on the Grammy for Best Alternative Release to Alabama Shakes last week, but can now take home some well deserved silverware.

Frontman Kevin Parker, who humbly collected the award with three of the group’s members said, “It’s already amazing to be incited to your awards ceremony, to this night, let alone be given an award to accept”.

Fellow Aussie Courtney Barnett was up for International Female Solo Artist, but sadly missed out to Icelandic artist Björk.

As expected Adele cleaned out, adding Best British Album for 25, Best British Single for Hello, and Best Female Solo Artist awards to her trophy room which already holds lots of the shiny BRIT trophies. She also closed the night with a performance of When We Were Young.

Other notable live acts included Lord’s stirring tribute to David Bowie and Rihanna and Drake performing their steaming hit Work, which was filled with mood enhancing lighting and intimate dancing….let’s be honest, they were grinding.
