Teddybears Get A Little Saucy In Their Latest Music Video
Swedish genre-busters Teddybears have dropped the music video for their single Best You’ve Ever Had, and I hope you’ve strapped pillows and padding to any sharp edges in your room, cause it’s going to get low-key trippy.
The song, as that name might indicate, is all about the lovin’. The good kind. The clip is full of all sorts of visual metaphors for the horizontal hot time, some far more thinly veiled than others:
These are presented in a kind of washed out, grainy, retro visual style with heaps of little animations to add to the fun, and its all topped off with a heavy dose of trips visuals and loops.
The track itself is a pop banger that blends a few elements of EDM and some early 2000s era R ’n’ B to come across like a Fatman Scoop Skrillex mix. Teddybears are known for their insanely cool blends of a huge stack of sounds and styles though, so throughout the song, you’re presented with a funky guitar break, soaring synthesisers, punchy 80s electro and a densely layered percussion.
Teddybears are possibly the biggest band that you don’t know. You’ve almost certainly heard one of their many songs featured in shows, games and movies over the past decade. Their material has been featured in ‘Pitch Perfect 2’, ‘FIFA 15’, ‘Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit’, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘Breaking Bad’, ‘Mad Men’, and ‘Paul’. Not only that, but they have worked alongside some of the biggest names in the industry like Marilyn Manson, Iggy Pop, Robyn, Katy Perry, Charli XCX, and Sia.
The Swedish quartet started out as a grindcore band, with Teddybears being one of those ironic names that were all the rage in the 90s. Then, almost a decade after they kicked off as a band, their third album dropped with the electronic and hip hop elements, a huge departure from their original hardcore sound. Even this track Best You’ve Ever Had started life as a “Slayer-esque metal riff” according to the band’s guitarist, Joakim Åhlund.
On a side note, Åhlund is also behind the band Caesars, who were responsible for Jerk It Out, another one of those songs you can never quite remember the name of.
