2016 APRA Music Awards Nominations Announced

APRA 2016 Music Awards Logo

The 2016 APRA Music Awards nominations have been announced with many superstars and Aussie favourites in-line to win!

Sia is set to clean up once again with two nominations in both the Most Played Australian Work category and Pop Work of the Year for Elastic Heart and Flashlight (written with Jessie J). However, Jarryd James has taken charge this year, nominated for four awards including Song of the Year, Most Played Australian Work, Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year, and Pop Work of the Year.

Other artists with more than one nomination include AC/DC for Rock Work of the Year, Birds of Tokyo for Song of the Year and Rock Work of the Year, Peking Duk for Dance Work of the Year and Most Played Australian Work with Take Me Over, and Vance Joy for Most Played Australian Work and Pop Work of the Year for Georgia.

The International Work of the Year will be battled out between Taylor Swift, Mark Ronson, Maroon 5, and Omi. A new category called the Overseas Recognition Award has also been added for APRA members situated overseas, with finalists for that category including Phil Barton, Sam Dixen, Kylie Sackley, Josef Salvat, and Vassy.

However, the category we’re all holding our breath for is for Song of the Year. This year’s contenders are Birds of Tokyo (Anchor), Courtney Barnett (Pedestrian At Best), C.W. StoneKing (The Zombie), Jarryd James (Do you Remember), and Tame Impala (Let It Happen).

This year’s winners will be announced on Tuesday 5 April. Check out the full list of nominees below!
