The Amity Affliction Announce Redux of Iconic Album ‘Let The Ocean Take Me’

Legendary Australian metalcore band The Amity Affliction has announced the upcoming release of Let The Ocean Take Me (Redux), set to drop on September 27th. This reimagined version of their 2014 album brings a fresh take on a record that played a pivotal role in shaping the band’s career, marking their second ARIA Number 1 and expanding their fanbase significantly.

To coincide with the announcement, The Amity Affliction has re-released the fan-favourite track My Father’s Son, now available on all streaming platforms. This redux not only celebrates the album’s 10-year legacy but also symbolizes the band’s reclaiming of their artistic rights following their departure from a long-standing record deal.

Frontman Joel Birch expressed the importance of this re-release, highlighting the band’s experience in the industry and their desire to regain control over their most successful work.

“We re-recorded this album for a few reasons, but it would be foolish for me not to mention the more monumental of these, that being that our deal with our previous record label had them taking the vast majority of all revenue from what has been our most successful album until recently. When you spend over two decades in an industry you get to see how predatory it can be, and the main victims of this predation are young bands that are wined and dined into deals that all but guarantee the band will only make money for the label and not for themselves.

This is what happened with us; we were never a group of people who were gunning to be massive or successful, we didn’t really look to the future at all, instead we were completely taken by the treatment we received and the promises that were made and only when it was far too late and we were far too far along in our contract to do anything about it.” JOEL BIRCH, THE AMITY AFFLICTION

Fans can catch The Amity Affliction headlining the Big Pineapple Festival in Queensland on October 19th, followed by a national tour in November, where they will perform *Let The Ocean Take Me* in full across major Australian cities, supported by Ice Nine Kills, We Came As Romans, and Heavensgate.
